Ebony&Ivory-Chapter 30

*A month passes by and the trial ensues for the attack on Luke. The jury are persuaded by the evidence given to them. The charge was changed to first degree murder with life in prison. Finally, the verdict is chosen*

Judge: Has the jury reached a verdict?

Jury: We hv, Ur Honour *passes the verdict to the bailiff*

Judge: *is given the verdict and reads it and then hands it back* Please read

Jury: We find the defendant...guilty on charges of attempted murder of the first degree

Luke: *sighs with huge relief. Then he looks at the girl being taken away

*the girl glared at him with vengeance, determined to get bk at him someday*

Illust: *held onto Luke's hand tight*

Luke: Don't worry, she won't be back

Illust:*still feels doubtful*

*After the trial ended, everyone left the building and headed home*

Faira: Tht was a pretty big relief. Its finally over

Thilius: That crazy broad won't be breaking out anytime soon at all

Illust: I dunno. Didnt u see her eyes just now? She looked like she was going to come bk n revenge at us if its the last thing she did

Faira: She's right. We cant be too careful. She may hv outside contacts tht we dont knw abt

Luke: We'll have some people look into it. Right now, I'm just wanna go back to writing

Illust: Can I help out as well?

Illust: *raised a brow* Tht sounds like...weird music

Luke: It's original. They blend hip-hop, pop, rock, and electronica

Illust: *hears the nxt song was Freestyler n smiled* Mm, this is a nice song

Luke: Hmmm. *listens to it, closing his eyes*

*Soon after, another of Luke's influences and friends plays. Mariah Carey's covering I'll Be There*

Illust: Is tht Mariah Carey?

Luke: That sure is

Illust: She sounds pretty. Is it true tht she's half-black?

Luke: Yes she is.

Illust: No wonder she sings so well. They always say African-American are natural-borne singers

Luke: *they arrive home*

Anita: *comes to greet them* How goes the hearing?

Luke: She's locked away for life

Anita: Oh, thank goodness for tht. They hv yet to announce it in the news, so I was worried

Luke: They should be annoucing it pretty soon

Illust: Speak of the devil *points at the TV*

TV news: The verdict has just came in tht Gina Hex, the 19-yr-old teenager who had almost stabbed Lucas Oliva to death at the last day of the TII concert has been found guilty n will be serving life imprisonment with no chance of parole...

Tom: No parole. Thank God for that

Anita: Yeah, I knw. She must've been one of the youngest person who ever got life sentence without a parole

Illust: Wht's a parole?

Tom: It's a chance to get out early. They have to be supervised before their sentence is up. Since Gina has a life sentence, there's no chance for her to get out

Illust: Oh I got it. Well, thank goodness then. I dont want to evn see her

Luke: Good thing we have cameras and what not making the place secure

Anita: Tht's definitely for sure

Illust: I'm gonna go online for a while to chat with Leo *went to the computer*

Luke: Well, Anita? Shall we start composing?
